Wolverine and the X-Men Outfit Toonz Teams With Be That Spark Corp on 3D Animated Series

Toonz Media Group and Be That Spark Corp, a joint venture between BLKBX Originals and Zuroam Media, have signed a co-production and co-distribution agreement for upcoming 3D animated series “Little Sparks.”

“Little Sparks” is based on the children’s book series “A Little Spark” by Chris Parsons, recipient of the Mom’s Choice Award Gold Medal for family-friendly media. The books will be adapted into a CGI animated series aimed at the four to eight age group. In addition, a subsequent feature film based on the book series is being planned.

The series traces the journey of Spark, a timid seven-year-old mouse, and his animal companions as they discover the power of imagination and unity in a whimsical fantasy realm inhabited by magical creatures. With themes of friendship, courage, and self-discovery, the series aims to capture the essence of childhood wonder and the transformative potential of each individual to ignite positive change.

Toonz Media Group will also develop a companion mobile app and a Roblox game inspired by the “Little Sparks” universe. The mobile app will offer interactive storytelling, educational activities and character customization, while the Roblox game will transport players into the world of Spark and his friends.

Toonz has to its credit several animations and live-action series, as well as feature films including “Wolverine and The X-Men” with Marvel, “Speedracer Next Generation” with Lionsgate and “Mostly Ghostly” with Universal.

“Little Sparks,” due in 2025, marks the first animated series for Hollywood creative agency BLKBX Originals. Under the terms of the agreement, Toonz will exclusively handle global media content distribution rights across all platforms, including licensing and merchandising rights. Toonz will also oversee the production process from pre-production through post-production.

The deal was closed by Emerson Machtus, BLKBX Originals’ VP and co-head of content for Be That Spark Corp and Jayakumar.
